Extension
Renovation
Located in Hawthorn, this 2025 transformation at 35 College Street sees a classic double-fronted Victorian home thoughtfully reworked into a refined and highly functional modern family residence. Designed in collaboration with Rio Frio Carroll Architects, the project carefully balances heritage preservation with bold contemporary intervention.
The renovation introduces a generous five-bedroom layout, centred around expansive open-plan living and kitchen areas that connect seamlessly to the outdoors and a newly integrated swimming pool. Natural light, material continuity, and spatial flow define the home’s modern extension, while the original Victorian façade and detailing are respectfully retained and restored.
A standout feature of the project is the bespoke basement cellar- an intimate, atmospheric space that adds depth and character to the home’s entertaining offering. Complementing the architectural intent is a full electrification strategy, supported by an integrated solar system, ensuring the home is both future-focused and energy efficient.
The result is a sophisticated family home that honours its heritage while embracing contemporary design, sustainability, and lifestyle-driven living.
